Chi-Town, Chi-Town!

Hey y'all! Ya girl Cherry Blue is back again! This time, from Chicago! What's up Chi-Town! Y'all know y'all treated me real nice this past weekend. I really appreciate you. I had quite the busy schedule while I was out there. But let me tell you that I will definitely be back...When it's not cold...I do not do cold, honey!
So, let me run down what happened...
Day 1: Came in at close to 11pm. Did some brief visiting. Picked up the whip. Went to the house. Got FRESH! Went to some after hours club, and hung out. But let me tell you how your girl was beat! How 'bout, I was in the club SLEEP-SITTING STRAIGHT UP! Can we say..."Time to lay it down, girl".
Day 2: More visiting-"God bless you Granny". Went to The Festival of Life, an African/Carribbean festival of music, food, crafts, and beautiful people. And, you talking about humid heat? We were standing still sweating! But we had some good food and a really nice time. Left there, did some more visiting. Ate again. Went to the house. Laid down for a minute, then got up and went over to the Taste nightclub, where I was a judge in the Midwest Dancehall Queen Competition. Damn! Was that fun! It was packed with people, everybody was dancing their butts off, and having a good time, but it was hotter than the devil's crotch in that piece! Can we say AIR CONDITIONING?!!? Please get some... Anyway, D-Mose hosted that joint. He kept the crowd hyped. Not to mention he is absolutely FINE! He had girls offering to wipe his sweat, and whatnot. Watch it chickens!!! Dancehall Queen Candi (from Chicago), Detroit's Dancehall Queen, Toronto's Dancehall Queen, not to mention all the ladies and gents from all around the Midwest were in the house representing. Judging that thing was quite an experience. Thanks for having me Montana! You are such a nice young lady. Oh yeah- Congrats to Skittles for walking away with the crown! Good luck in Jamaica! So, that was the wrap up of my very busy day. We walked out of that joint and it was daybreak, honey. Whew! What a day.
Day 3: More visiting. Went over to The Taste of Chicago. Now that's the eater's paradise. You get to taste all the good food that Chicago has to offer. I had a great time over there. Saw some street performers. Hung out with my baby. And ate, ate, ate! What a wonderful town for food. I see why everybody is thick out in that piece. We need some of that good stuff in LA. MMM...MMM! Left there, did some more visiting, and then guess what??? Ate again!!! I know, JUST GREEDY! Just went over to Izola's and hurt myself eating. I always love some good food, and a great jukebox. Plus, my waitress was really nice. Y'all really know how to treat a girl.
Day 4: Got up early and went down to the Gold Coast for some shopping. Downtown Chicago is really cool. Lots of great stores. I had Garrett's popcorn, went over to Barney's, saw the sights. It was very cool. Came back to the house, and got to do something very unusual...Sat down, and watched TV! Can you believe it?!? It started to rain, so we just chilled for the rest of the day. Thanks baby. You are such a good tourguide, companion, and all that other good stuff. LOVE YOU!
Day 5: Got up early, again. Got dressed and hit it to the airport. Had a nice ride back home. Whew! What a trip. I absolutely loved it. Would I do Chi-Town again? Fa Sho!
I wanted to take some time out to thank the people who made my trip so wonderful: First of all Derrick. Thank you for putting up with me, and running all around the city just to keep me happy. Love you. Thank you Miss Doris, Dave, Julie, Railey, DJ, Granny, Auntie, Ma-Ma, Mr. D, Veora and Cory, and Dion. You all were lovely and hospitable. Whenever you're in LA, I got you. I enjoyed all of you. Shout outs to Nosaki, Brian, Tanya, Malik Yusef, Montana and all of the Dancehall Queens. Peace and Love to you all. Hope I didn't forget anyone. If so, I'll catch you on the next go round. See you again. Thanks for having me Chi-Town!

Final Fridays

You know how they say that 'anything that can happen, will happen'? Well let me just tell you that they ain't never lied! So... Thursday night, I'm leaving my last rehersal with the band before the show the next day. We ended up having to go an extra hour, because my drummer had had an accident out front of the rehersal studio. He was such a trooper, that he wasn't even in a crummy mood about the whole thing. He came in, and still wore his hat as music director and drummer. Love you Kurt! Anyways, we did our rehersal and left the joint at 1am. I had not been feeling well that day, so I got my Mom to accompany me to rehersal. She drove. On the way back to the Valley from Hollywood, we're coming up Cahuenga, on the side of the 101 freeway. I was directing my Mom on how to get home, because she was unfamiliar. As we're coming around the bend and on our way to getting onto the 101N, a drunk driver runs the stop sign and crashed into us, doing about 45-50 mph! UNBELIEVABLE! Airbags were dejected, the car was totalled out, and the man had the nerve to jump out of the car and ask us why we hit him! Let me tell you how I was about to open a serious can of 'KICK YO ASS' on him! So blah, blah...Got his insurance info...Blah, blah...witnesses stopped and asked us if we were ok...Tow trucks came. But guess who never came??? THE L.A. POLICE! 3 different police cars passed and never stopped. Plus, we called the police on 3 different occasions, and they never came. My Mom and I ended up standing alone outside in Hollywood until nearly 3am. Boo, to the LAPD! Blessedly, neither my Mom or I was damaged to the point of fatal injury. We were able to walk away with our lives. We were badly banged up, but we walked away. THANK YOU GOD! I was able to do my show the following day, even though there were none of the usual hijinx (however you spell it) that are usually involved in my show. I was there, singing my heart out, and telling my audience to cherish the day, because you never know when you can be out of here. That Thursday night made me aware of how in an instant, your life can be over. So, be beautiful, and be love, because you just never know. Thank you Cherry Blue Project, for supporting me. Thanks Final Fridays for booking us. Thank you Mama, for always having my back. Thank you baby, for being a great man. Thanks to Ryan and Rebecca for your help and support. And most of all THANK YOU GOD FOR BETTER DAYS! I will use them wisely (smile).
